1. I was concerned that the dog hot pad would be too hot, since there are no adjustments for temperature, however, both me and my bunnies love this pad. Its got a well constructed cover and the cord is plastic covered metal. My bunnies, as tenacious as they are, they have managed to chew through the plastic cover of the metal cable, but they are certainly not getting through the metal. I have left this plugged in for a month, and there have been no issues. My rabbits are rather small and one of them enjoys the mat and the other uses it rarely, but I also enjoy sitting near it, it is a comfortable, warm temperature.

2. Yeah it's definitely warm, and she loves it.
Got this for her as she is nearly 18 years old and is showing signs of arthritis, including not climbing to sleep on chairs or couches. Now she instead always sleeps on her bed. So I got this for her to make her more comfortable, especially now that she always sleeps there... well she seems to love it, and it's a perfect size for her bed. I know she likes warm, she always used to go sleep on the counter when the dishwasher was running and is always sunning herself by the windows in the mornings.
Now she can be cozy, in her now-preferred spot without having to climb anywhere to get it.
